UK Trade Deficit Widens in September

The UK’s deficit on trade in goods and services is provisionally estimated to have widened in September to £5.1 billion, from a deficit of £4.2 billion in August. In the third quarter, the deficit on trade in goods and services widened to £14.0 billion, from an £11.5 billion deficit in the previous quarter.

 
The UK''s surplus on trade in services was £2.7 billion, unchanged compared with August. In the third quarter, the surplus on trade in services was £8.2 billion, compared with £8.9 billion in the previous three months. Exports of services fell £1.0 billion to £33.0 billion and imports of services fell £0.3 billion to £24.8 billion.
