German Import Prices up 0.4% in March

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office, in March 2008, the index of import prices increased by 5.7% from the corresponding month of the preceding year. In February and in January 2008 the annual rates of change were +5.9% and +5.2%, respectively.

WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in March 2008, the index of import prices increased by 5.7% from the corresponding month of the preceding year. In February and in January 2008 the annual rates of change were +5.9% and +5.2%, respectively. The index of import prices, excluding crude oil and mineral oil products, was 1.5% above the level of March 2007.

From February 2008 to March 2008 the index of import prices rose by 0.4%.

The index of export prices increased 2.2% in March 2008 from the corresponding month of the preceding year. In February and in January 2008 the annual rates of change were +2.2% and +1.8%, respectively. From February 2008 to March 2008 the index rose by 0.2%.
