In January 2008, household consumption expenditure on manufactured goods, measured in chain-linked volumes, declined by 1.2 %, after +2.1% in December (trading days and seasonally adjusted figures).
In January, expenditures on durables fell down sharply (-3.9% after +4.1% in December), due to car purchases’ bounce back (-8.7% after +6.7% in December), which contributed -1.4 point to the growth of the total. However, expenditures on equipment goods kept increasing, at a slower pace than in December though (+0.8% after +1.7%).
In January, consumption expenditure on textile-leather grew at the same pace than in December (+2.3%).
Finally, household consumption of other manufactured goods went slightly down in January (-0.5% after +0.5%).
