| In the three months to June the seasonally adjusted index for retail sales at constant 2000 prices was 1.1% higher than the previous three months. |

| Between May and June the volume of sales rose 0.2%, reflecting increases in all sectors except food stores and non-store retailing and repair.The volume of sales in predominantly food stores in the latest three months decreased by 0.1% over the previous three months. In predominantly non-food stores sales were up 1.9%. |

| In December 2007 compared with November 2007, the euro area EA13 industrial new orders index fell by 3.6%. In November the index grew by 2.0%. In the EU27 new orders decreased by 1.2% in December and by 0.2% in November. Excluding ships, railway & aerospace equipment industrial new orders lost 0.8% in the euro area and 0.5% in the EU27. |

German Job Growth Continues in Q4 Feb 21, 1:45 PM EST |

| In industry, the year-on-year level of employment has continuously risen since the first quarter of 2007. |

| According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office, the number of persons in employment whose place of employment was in Germany amounted to about 40.3 million. That was an increase of 617,000 persons or 1.6% on the previous year. The number of persons in employment hence exceeded 40 million for the first time in a quarter of a year since German reunification. |
